Club Live Recycling Contest
Club Live is having another recycling contest. Items are collected in RTA classes. The RTA class with the most points on May 16th wins a free field trip to Hurricane Harbor!

Universal Free Breakfast-our No Cost Breakfast beginning January 17, 2012
Universal Free Breakfast-our No Cost Breakfast to students in our district is here…Nutrition Services will be offering breakfast to all students in our cafeteria at no cost (free) beginning January 17, 2012. Students will still go through the same process in our cafeterias using our Point of Sale cashiering system. The only change will be that no student will pay for breakfast-the charges are waived. Nutrition Services will absorb the cost for the paid and reduced priced students who eat with us.

We will be transitioning to this great program during the week of January 9th at all our school sites. We want to make sure that the transition is seamless so the official start date is :

AVID Students Shine at 1st Trimester Awards
On Thursday, December 15th, Badger Springs AVID Program had the priveledge of honoring 15 students fro earning a 4.0 G.P.A., and 112 students for earning a 3.0 or above. Way to Go!!!!
Badger Springs Students Shine at Awards Assembly
On Wednesday, December 14th, Badger Springs Staff had the priveledge of honoring 560 students for earning a 3.0 or above, 225 students for perfect attendance, and 9 students for meeting the CA Reading Standard. Way to Go!!!!

Mrs. Janie Friedl was selected as one of the California League of Middle Schools (CLMS) Top 10 Teachers of the Year!
Top Readers Announced for November
In order for Badger Springs students to "Get on the Bus" and meet the State reading standard (500,000 words for 6th grade, 1,000,000 words for 7th and 8th), a 24-minute Reading To Achieve (RTA) period was added to the school day. Accelerated Reader is being implemented school-wide.

MESA Robotics Invitational Competition
The MESA Robotics Invitational took place at the UCR Bourns College of Engineering on Saturday, November 5, 2011. 600 MESA middle school students from throughout the Inland Empire competed in a challenge, relating to the theme "Disasters in, near and around the sea: the BP Oil Spill." Students had to build a robot that autonomously completed an endurance challenge, and also had to contain an oil spill in water.
